So we're back in our hotel after a long night. I had no idea that Kid Koala was going to be warmin up the crowd for Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow. I walked in and squealed with glee (yes, I actually made a squealing sound) Kid koala was one of the first DJ's that I started to listen to when I first got into turntablism. Might say it was the icing on the cake tonight. His set was true amazing and I need to listen to more Koala for sure. But Shadow and Chemist's performance was spectacular. Their set was done on pure 45 records. Something I have never seen before. Got a DVD, CD, and a shirt to take back to Boise with me. Overall, one of the best shows I have seen..
I know, I been posting a lot of nerdcore stuff lately. Can't help it. It's what I been listening to and I keep finding little gems here and there that I really come to love. However. I'm going to Seattle in February to see one of my fav fav fav artists ever. DJ Shadow. I listen to him frequently on my ipod. You know what I like about his music the most? The way he goes about his art. He looses himself in the quiet lonely basement of record stores, slowly scrawling through lost and forgotten records of the past looking for just the right sound.
Its like he is returning the glory of past of long gone artist and revitalizing them to a new sound. Giving them one last chance to reach our ears and give meaning to their existence. I think there is something noble in that. Here is one of my favorite tracks.
